Maserati Unveils New MC20 Super Sports Car Celebrating 110 Years At Monterey
Maserati, the renowned Italian luxury and performance brand, is celebrating its 110th anniversary with a series of events during Monterey Car Week 2024. The festivities will highlight Maserati's rich history and future innovations. A key event will be the global unveiling of a new super sports car derived from the MC20 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.
The House of Maserati will serve as the central hub for the brand's activities throughout the week. Visitors can experience 'La Dolce Vita' hospitality while exploring various models, including the one-of-a-kind MC20 Tributo Modenese. This unique coupe pays tribute to Modena, Maserati's heartland, and celebrates Monterey Car Week.
Additionally, the House of Maserati will mark the North American launch of Maserati’s Classiche department. An MC12 Special Edition will be displayed to honour Maserati's racing heritage. Guests can also view current models like the all-electric Folgore range and enjoy exclusive private test drives.
On August 17, at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Maserati will deliver its first MCXtrema to a customer. This track-only model features a high-power V6 3.0-L twin-turbo engine. Chief test driver Andrea Bertolini will guide the new owner through a walk-around and driver brief before they take to the track together.
The MCXtrema was first revealed at The Quail in 2023 and represents a blend of luxury, technology, and raw speed. This delivery marks its debut on North American tracks.
The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering
The Quail event will feature the global reveal of an all-new super sports car based on the MC20 halo vehicle. Giovanni Perosino and Klaus Busse from Maserati will unveil this project during a press conference scheduled from 9:12-9:19am PST. The car embodies pure Maserati racing performance and Italian driving dynamics.
The MC20 Icona Special Series will also make its North American debut at The Quail. Limited to 20 units globally, it features special livery inspired by the MC12 Stradale. Exclusive details include Bianco Audace Matte and Blu Stradale colours with unique customisation elements.
Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Concept Lawn
Maserati will conclude Monterey Car Week with an appearance at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 18. The newly unveiled super sports car from The Quail will be showcased on the Concept Lawn. Its design focuses on reduced weight and maximum performance output.
Klaus Busse, Head of Design for Maserati, will serve as an Honorary Judge for the event’s ‘Best in Show’ category. This participation highlights Maserati’s dynamic history over 110 years.
Maserati produces a range of unique cars known for their style, technology, and exclusivity. Their lineup includes models like Grecale SUV, GranTurismo grand tourer, and GranCabrio convertible. These vehicles are available with hybrid powertrains or V6 petrol engines.
The top-tier models are powered by the Nettuno V6 engine featuring F1-derived technologies. By 2025, all Maserati models will have full-electric versions, aiming for an entirely electric range by 2028.
