Maruti XL6 Domestic Sales Surge, Exports Plunge In May 2024

Maruti Suzuki India, the nation's top car manufacturer, offers a wide array of vehicles. These range from budget-friendly cars to luxury models, covering segments like hatchbacks, sedans, and compact SUVs. Among its premium offerings is the 6-seater XL6, which sold 3,241 units in May 2024. However, exports were minimal, with just 6 units shipped abroad last month.

The Maruti XL6 features a next-gen 1.5-litre K15C dual-jet petrol engine. This engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. It delivers a maximum power of 114 bhp and a peak torque of 137 Nm. The car is available in Jetta, Alpha, and Alpha Plus variants, with the Jetta variant also offered in CNG.

XL6 Sales Surge Exports Plunge

In May 2024, Maruti Suzuki exported only 6 units of the XL6 compared to 24 units in May 2023. This represents an 18-unit decrease and a growth percentage of -75%. The share percentage for exports was just 0.01%.

Month Units Exported Growth % Share %
May 2024 6 -75% 0.01%
May 2023 24 - -

The XL6 includes ventilated seats to meet the needs of regions with hot and humid climates or occasional cold spells. Safety features are robust, with standard models having four airbags and premium versions offering six airbags.

Advanced Features in Maruti XL6

The XL6 boasts several premium features such as a 360-degree camera and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless smartphone integration. Additional features include wireless charging, the Smartplay Pro system, and Suzuki Connect telematics.

Maruti Suzuki continues to enhance its offerings by incorporating advanced technology and safety features into its vehicles. The XL6 is a testament to this commitment, providing both comfort and safety for its users.

The company's focus on innovation and customer satisfaction remains evident through its diverse vehicle lineup and continuous improvements in design and functionality.

Despite the low export numbers, the XL6's strong domestic sales indicate its popularity within the Indian market. Industry experts speculate that the reason behind the minimal exports could be the XL6's right-hand-drive configuration, which might not be compatible with all international markets.4

Maruti Suzuki might consider offering left-hand-drive variants to cater to a wider global audience and potentially boost export figures for the XL6 in the future.
