Maruti Suzuki Swift Hits CSD Canteens: Exclusive Deals For Armed Forces
Maruti Suzuki launched the new Swift hatchback in India in May this year. The vehicle quickly became the best-selling car in the country within its first month. The hatchback has received positive feedback from buyers, with many customers currently waiting to own one. Now, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is also available for purchase at the CSD Canteen across India.
The CSD (Canteen Stores Department) stores are a chain of retail outlets run by the Indian Army. These stores sell groceries and other household items to Armed Forces personnel in the country.

In addition to daily essentials, CSD also offers four-wheelers and two-wheelers. All variants of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift, including manual and automatic options, are now available at these canteens.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift 1.2-litre manual transmission option is available in the LXI variant for Rs 6.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). At the CSD Canteen, it costs Rs 5.72 lakhs, a difference of Rs 76,735. The VXI variant costs Rs 7.29 lakhs (ex-showroom) but is priced at Rs 6.37 lakhs at the CSD Canteen, a difference of Rs 92,364.
The ZXI variant is priced at Rs 8.29 lakhs (ex-showroom) and Rs 7.26 lakhs at the CSD canteen, resulting in a price difference of Rs 1.03 lakhs. The ZXI+ variant costs Rs 8.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) while its price at the CSD canteen is Rs 7.88 lakhs, a difference of Rs 1.10 lakhs.

Automatic Variants
The ZXI+ AMT variant costs Rs 9.14 lakhs (ex-showroom) and is available for Rs 8.08 lakhs at the CSD canteen, a difference of Rs 1.06 lakhs. The 1.2L Petrol AMT option in the VXI variant costs Rs 7.79 lakhs (ex-showroom) and Rs 6.78 lakhs at the CSD canteen, resulting in a difference of Rs 1 lakh.
The ZXI variant with AMT costs Rs 8.79 lakhs (ex-showroom) and is priced at Rs 7.67 lakhs at the CSD canteen, a difference of Rs 1.11 lakhs. The ZXI+ AMT variant costs Rs 9.49 lakhs (ex-showroom) but can be purchased for Rs 8.29 lakhs at the CSD canteen, a price difference of Rs 1.19 lakhs.
Top-End Variant
The top-end ZXI+ AMT variant costs Rs 9.64 lakhs (ex-showroom) while it is available for Rs 8.47 lakhs at the CSD canteen, resulting in a price difference of Rs 1.16 lakhs.

GST Rate Impact
The GST rate on cars in the open market stands at 28 per cent, while it is only 14 per cent in the CSD canteens, further explaining the price differences.

Cars sold via the CSD Canteen are intended for Indian Armed Forces personnel who meet specific eligibility criteria. It is also worth mentioning that, once these cars are purchased at the CSD Canteen, they cannot be sold in the open market.
