Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG Launching Next Week: Fun-To-Drive Hatchback In Eco-Friendly Avatar
Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the CNG-powered Swift next week. This new variant will be on the latest-generation Swift, which was introduced with a petrol engine in May this year. The Swift CNG will feature the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z12E engine, marking the first time this engine is paired with CNG.
Swift CNG Variants and Features
The Swift CNG is expected to be available in multiple trims. However, it remains uncertain if Maruti will offer the CNG option on its top-spec variants. The feature list for the Swift CNG is anticipated to mirror that of its petrol counterpart, ensuring a consistent experience across both fuel types.

Maruti Suzuki plans to price the Swift CNG approximately Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000 higher than its equivalent petrol models. This pricing strategy aligns with Maruti's broader goal of expanding its CNG vehicle lineup and increasing market penetration.
Maruti's Ambitious Sales Targets
With the introduction of the Swift CNG, Maruti aims to boost sales of its CNG models nationwide. Currently, 34 percent of Maruti's total sales come from CNG vehicles. The company has seen a 37 percent increase in sales of its CNG models compared to last year.

Maruti Suzuki holds a dominant 73 percent share of the total CNG cars and SUVs sold in India. The company aims to sell over 6 lakh CNG vehicles in FY25, matching the entire market's projected sales for FY24.
The Z12E engine used in the Swift CNG will also power other upcoming Maruti models with their respective CNG iterations. This move highlights Maruti's commitment to expanding its eco-friendly vehicle options.

DriveSpark Thinks
The introduction of the Swift CNG is part of Maruti Suzuki's broader strategy to cater to the growing demand for alternative fuel vehicles in India. By offering multiple trims and maintaining competitive pricing, Maruti aims to attract a wide range of customers looking for economical and environmentally friendly options.
