Maruti Suzuki Nexa Achieves Outstanding SUV Sales Performance Led By Grand Vitara And Fronx

Maruti Suzuki's Nexa network has seen a consistent rise in sales, largely driven by its SUV and MPV offerings. Since the financial year ending March 2020, two models, the Grand Vitara and Fronx, have dominated sales, contributing over 66 percent to the premium channel's total. Other key models in this portfolio include the Jimny, XL6, and Invicto.

Grand Vitara Leads Nexa Sales

The Grand Vitara has emerged as a top performer since its launch in September 2022. With cumulative sales of 2,17,968 units, it accounts for nearly 35 percent of Nexa's utility vehicle (UV) sales. In early July 2024, it surpassed the significant milestone of 2 lakh units sold.

Fronx: A Rising Star

The Fronx compact SUV has also made a significant impact since its debut in April 2023. It reached the 1 lakh sales mark within ten months and crossed 1.5 lakh units in just fourteen months. By mid-September 2024, it had already exceeded the 2 lakh sales milestone.

XL6 Continues Strong Performance

The XL6 is now in its sixth year and has achieved cumulative sales of 1,84,329 units. It holds a share of nearly 30 percent of Nexa UV sales. The model recorded its highest annual sales in FY2024 with 45,131 units sold.

In FY2024, all three models were among the Top 20 selling utility vehicles. The Fronx ranked No. 8 with the Grand Vitara at No. 9 and XL6 at No. 20. Their strong performance continues into the current fiscal year.

Jimny and Invicto's Market Presence

The Jimny five-door model launched in June 2023 but hasn't gained much traction with Indian buyers yet. It has sold only 21,042 units so far. Meanwhile, the Invicto MPV was introduced in July 2023 to target India's growing market for vehicles priced over Rs 20 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki achieved record utility vehicle sales last fiscal year with a combined total of 6,42,296 units from both Arena and Nexa outlets. Nexa contributed about half of these figures.

With seven months remaining in this fiscal year, Maruti Suzuki is poised to maintain its position as India's leading UV manufacturer. The company currently holds a substantial lead over its closest competitor by nearly 73 thousand units.

The sustained demand for Nexa SUVs like the Grand Vitara and Fronx suggests that Maruti Suzuki will likely retain its top spot without any surprises on the horizon.
