New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift Surpasses 40,000 Bookings In Just A Month: Another Success Story In The Making
Maruti Suzuki launched the fourth-generation Swift hatchback in India on 9th May. Since its launch, the carmaker has received over 40,000 bookings within a month. Deliveries have already commenced, prioritising those who pre-booked. In May 2018, Maruti Suzuki sold 19,393 units of the new-gen Swift, making it the highest-selling car for the company that month. Moreover, the new Swift has outsold popular models like the Dzire and Wagon R in May 2018.
Maruti Suzuki confirmed an overwhelming response to the new-generation Swift, surpassing initial expectations. The company anticipates further increases in bookings with the upcoming launch of the hatchback's CNG variant, expected later this month or early next month.

Out of the 40,000 bookings, 83 per cent are for manual variants, while only 17 per cent are for AMT variants. Additionally, around 50 per cent of all bookings are for the mid-spec VXi variant. The pricing for the new-generation Maruti Swift starts at Rs 6.49 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs 9.64 lakh for the top variant.
The new Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z series engine with Dualjet technology, producing 80bhp and 112Nm of torque. This engine is more fuel-efficient than its predecessor, boasting a mileage of 25.72km/l. The high fuel efficiency has significantly contributed to its popularity among buyers.

Price Adjustments
Maruti has announced a price cut of up to Rs 5,000 for its AMT cars, applicable to the new-gen Swift as well. This adjustment aims to make the car more attractive to potential buyers.
Market Presence
Maruti Swift has maintained a strong market presence over the years and continues to be a top performer for the company. It remains a popular choice among buyers, often considered as a first car option due to its reliability and performance.
