Maruti Suzuki Reports Mixed Sales Performance In May Across Various Segments: All Details Here
As June begins, vehicle manufacturers have released their sales figures for May 2024. Maruti Suzuki, a leading automobile manufacturer in India, has reported its sales data, showing a mixed performance across different segments. Numbers-wise, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,44,002 vehicles in May. This is a slight increase from the 1,43,708 vehicles sold in May 2023, representing a growth of 0.2 per cent.
In the entry-level segment, which includes the Alto and Spresso models, Maruti Suzuki sold 9,902 vehicles in May 2024. This is a decline from the 12,236 vehicles sold in May 2023.

The compact segment, featuring models like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and Wagon R, saw sales of 68,206 cars in May 2024. This is down from the 71,419 cars sold in May 2023.
For the mid-size segment, which includes only the Ciaz sedan, Maruti sold 730 cars in May 2024. This is a decrease from the 992 Ciaz sedans sold in May 2023.
Utility Vehicles & Vans
The utility vehicle segment showed positive growth. Maruti sold 54,204 utility vehicles in May. This is an increase from the 46,243 vehicles sold in May 2023. Models in this segment include Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6.

In the van segment, which includes only the Eeco model, Maruti Suzuki sold 10,960 units of Eeco vans in May 2024. This is a decline from the 12,818 Eeco vans sold in May 2023.
Commercial Vehicles & Exports
In the light commercial vehicle segment, Maruti sells the Super Carry model. The company sold 2,692 Super Carry vehicles in May. This is slightly down from the 2,888 units sold in May 2023.
Regarding exports, Maruti exported a total of 17,367 vehicles in May. This is a significant drop from the 26,477 vehicles exported in May 2023.
Overall Sales Figures
Considering all sales including domestic and exports, Maruti sold a total of 1,74,551 vehicles in May. This represents a slight decline compared to the 1,78,083 vehicles sold in May 2023.

While Maruti Suzuki experienced an overall marginal decline in sales for May compared to last year, it did see growth in domestic sales driven by an increase in SUV sales. However, declines were noted across several segments including mini cars and exports.
