Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Big Savings With Latest Discounts
Maruti Suzuki has reintroduced discounts for the Jimny, a 5-door SUV launched last year. Despite initial excitement, sales have not met expectations. The Jimny appeals mainly to buyers seeking a compact 4×4 SUV. Last year's year-end discounts boosted sales slightly. Now, Maruti Suzuki offers new discounts, with savings up to Rs 2.5 lakh on this model.
The discounts apply to both Zeta and Alpha variants of the Jimny. The Zeta variant receives a Rs 50,000 consumer discount. Previously, the Alpha variant had a Rs 1.5 lakh discount until June. Post-June 21st, Maruti increased this discount by an additional Rs 1 lakh, bringing the total discount on the Alpha variant to Rs 2.5 lakh.

Comparison With Mahindra Thar
This significant price reduction makes the Jimny more competitive against its rival, the Mahindra Thar. The Thar's starting price is Rs 11.34 lakh (ex-showroom) for the RWD version. In contrast, the Jimny is available only in a 4×4 version. After applying the discount, the top-end manual Jimny costs around Rs 13.3 lakh on-road, while the automatic version is approximately Rs 14.4 lakh on-road.
The Maruti Jimny features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 105 PS and 134 Nm of peak torque. It comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission and includes a robust 4×4 system for off-road capabilities.

Advantages of Choosing Jimny Over Thar
One major factor deterring buyers from the Jimny was its high price. With these new discounts, it becomes more affordable and accessible. The Thar's petrol manual version costs around Rs 16.64 lakh on-road in Noida, whereas the Jimny can be purchased for Rs 13.3 lakh on-road.
Comfort is another advantage of the Jimny over the Thar, especially on rough roads. Additionally, while the Thar is a 3-door SUV, the Jimny offers five doors, enhancing practicality. Although Mahindra plans to release a 5-door Thar soon, currently, the Jimny remains the only practical option with five doors.

Reliability and Safety Features
The Jimny's reliability is consistent with other Japanese vehicles in the market. Its overall fit and finish are commendable, and it has extensive aftermarket accessories due to its international availability.
Safety-wise, Maruti equips the Jimny with six airbags as standard, whereas the Mahindra Thar comes with only two airbags.
These factors make the discounted Maruti Jimny an attractive option for buyers looking for a reliable and practical compact SUV with enhanced safety features.
