Maruti Suzuki Jimny Exports Skyrocket With A 5700% Increase, Domestic Sales On The Rise
Maruti Suzuki's Jimny has seen a significant rise in exports, with a 5700 percent increase in just one year. Although its sales in India are not as high, they have been gradually improving.
Speaking about the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny, the model was anticipated to be well-received, especially as it was positioned to compete with the Mahindra Thar. Many were eager to purchase this new offering.
The three-door version of the Jimny is being exported from India. In July alone, 4528 units were shipped abroad, a stark contrast to just 78 units in July 2023. This marks a remarkable 5705 percent increase in exports.
Despite lower sales figures in India, the Jimny is gaining traction. In July, 2429 units were sold domestically, compared to only 481 units in June. This shows a growing interest among Indian buyers.
The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder K15 mild hybrid petrol engine, delivering 105 hp and 134 Nm of torque. It comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.
This car includes features like electrically adjustable ORVMs, front and rear wipers with washers, day-night IRVM, reclining front seats, and a multi-function steering wheel. It also has a TMT colour display and adjustable headrests.
Interior and Safety
The interior boasts a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Safety features are also well-integrated, making it an attractive option for many buyers.
Sales figures for earlier months show a gradual increase: January saw 163 units sold, February had 322 units, March had 318 units, April had 257 units, and May had 274 units. This upward trend indicates growing popularity in India.

Maruti Suzuki currently sells only the five-door version of the Jimny in India. The three-door version is primarily exported due to higher demand abroad. There is speculation that this variant might soon be available in India.
