Maruti Suzuki Achieves Milestone By Exporting 30 Lakh Cars From India To Global Markets
Maruti Suzuki has reached a significant milestone by exporting 30 lakh cars from India to various international markets. This achievement solidifies its position as the leading vehicle exporter from India. The company has been a dominant force in the Indian automotive industry, known for manufacturing and selling the highest number of vehicles domestically.
Maruti Suzuki's journey in exports began in 1986 when it shipped 500 cars to Hungary. Overcoming numerous challenges, the company steadily increased its export numbers. By the financial year 2012-13, Maruti had exported its first 10 lakh cars, marking an important milestone. The subsequent 10 lakh cars took eight years to export, reaching this figure in 2020.

The pace of exports accelerated significantly in recent years. The last batch of 10 lakh cars was exported in just three years, culminating in a total of 30 lakh cars sent abroad. This rapid growth highlights the increasing demand for Indian-made vehicles globally. Maruti's export portfolio includes popular models like Celerio, Francs, Baleno, Ciaz, Desire, and Espresso.
Maruti Suzuki's export destinations span across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and West Asia. Countries such as South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Chile receive these vehicles under the Suzuki badge. The company's global reach underscores the acceptance and popularity of Indian products in international markets.
Recently, Maruti added Grand Vitara and Jimmy to its list of exported models. These new additions are now being shipped to various countries. Notably, the France crossover SUV is being exported from India to Japan, showcasing Maruti's expanding footprint in global markets.
In the past three years, Maruti Suzuki's exports have tripled due to rising international demand for its products. This surge is expected to continue, with projections indicating that the company will export 7.5 lakh vehicles by mid-2030.
The company's success in exporting vehicles manufactured in India contributes significantly to India's growth as an automotive hub. This achievement not only boosts Maruti's global standing but also enhances India's reputation in the international automotive industry.
