Maruti Suzuki To Unveil EVX Electric SUV At Bharat Mobility Expo 2025
Maruti Suzuki will unveil the production-spec eVX SUV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, scheduled for January 17-22 in New Delhi. This electric SUV, which has faced multiple delays, was initially expected to debut globally this year. The eVX will first be available in Europe and Japan, with an India launch anticipated shortly after.
eVX Production and Export Plans
The eVX will be manufactured exclusively in India, serving as the mother plant for this global product. Suzuki aims to prioritise key international markets with this vehicle. A senior company executive recently stated, "We will officially announce the BEV [born electric vehicle] at Auto Expo in India in January next year, and we hope to launch it in early 2025. We will give priority to Europe first."

Series production of the eVX is expected to begin early next year. Most units produced will be exported, with a planned annual output of 1.5 lakh units. This strategy aligns with Maruti's focus on catering to competitive markets like Europe and Japan.
Competitive Landscape
The eVX is set to compete directly with models such as Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai's Creta EV, BYD Atto 3, and Mahindra's born EV line-up. Developed in collaboration with Toyota, there will also be a Toyota-badged version of the eVX available a few months after its launch.

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that India will play a crucial role in the production of the eVX. The parent company Suzuki plans to use India as a base for exporting this electric SUV to various international markets.
Additional Developments
Maruti Suzuki is also working on developing its own strong hybrid powertrain for future models. This move indicates the company's commitment to expanding its range of eco-friendly vehicles.

In other news, Maruti Alto K10 and Spresso now come equipped with ESP as standard features. Additionally, Maruti Alto K10 has been recalled in India due to issues affecting 2,555 units.
The upcoming launch of the eVX marks Maruti Suzuki's entry into the electric vehicle market. With its production centred in India and a focus on exports, the company aims to establish a strong presence globally.
