Maruti Suzuki EVitara TVC Reveals Interesting Details; Everything We Know So Far
Maruti Suzuki is stepping into the electric vehicle market with its first fully-electric SUV, the eVitara. This model will be available in global markets such as Europe, Japan, and India. The eVitara features a dual motor 4WD system for enhanced off-road capabilities. A recent TV commercial showcased the vehicle's performance in snowy conditions in Japan.
As electric vehicles gain popularity, Maruti Suzuki and Suzuki Global are entering this segment with the eVitara. Scheduled for release in 2025, this electric SUV will also have a Toyota counterpart named Urban Cruiser EV. Production of both models will take place at Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat plant in India.

Drivetrain
The eVitara is primarily a front-wheel-drive vehicle. However, higher-spec versions include an additional motor on the rear axle for 4WD capability. Unlike many competitors focusing on single motor FWD vehicles, Suzuki offers a more versatile option with the eVitara.
Testing
On Christmas Day, Suzuki aired footage of an eVitara prototype being tested on snow at a proving course in Hokkaido, Japan. This testing aimed to identify any potential issues when driving in challenging terrains and low temperatures. The video highlights the vehicle's ability to drift through snow effortlessly.
Dimensions
In terms of dimensions, the eVitara measures 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. It features ventilated disc brakes on all corners and offers wheel sizes up to 19 inches with 225-section tyres.
Battery Options & Specifications
The eVitara comes with two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The lower-spec 49 kWh model is available only with 2WD and delivers 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. The 61 kWh version offers both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The latter includes an extra motor on the rear axle for a combined output of 300 Nm.
Features
The feature list for the eVitara includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), LED headlights and tail lights, a panoramic sunroof, large infotainment screens, a floating centre console, electronic parking brake, and a two-spoke steering wheel.
DriveSpark Thinks
Suzuki's new TV commercial showcases not only the eVitara's off-road prowess but also its sophisticated suspension system designed for challenging terrains. This approach sets it apart from many rivals that focus solely on front-wheel-drive models.
The launch of Maruti's first electric SUV marks an important milestone for the company as it ventures into electric mobility. With its global reach and innovative features, the eVitara aims to make a significant impact in various markets upon its release in early 2025.
