Maruti Suzuki Accelerator Opens Doors To Global Startups
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced the opening of applications for the 9th Cohort of its Maruti Suzuki Accelerator, a program aimed at startups. For the first time, the company is extending invitations to global startups.
Both Indian and international startups with innovative solutions in automobile manufacturing and mobility can apply.
Global Expansion of Maruti Suzuki Accelerator
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated, "The startup ecosystem is full of ideas and solutions relevant to the automobile manufacturing and mobility space.
In 2019, we initiated a program with an aim to create an enabling ecosystem for startups with technology-driven innovations.

Now, by opening the program to global startups, we are determined to further accelerate the development of innovative technologies relevant to the Indian market.
This expansion will help drive technological advancements and generate good employment opportunities for the youth, thereby contributing to the nation's economic growth."
The initiative began in 2019 with the Mobility and Automobile Innovation Lab (MAIL) to foster innovation in automobile manufacturing and mobility.
Under this corporate accelerator program, Maruti Suzuki collaborates with startups to co-create technology-led solutions that enhance customer convenience and business process efficiency.
Rebranding and New Identity
Recognising the evolving needs of their dynamic ecosystem, Maruti Suzuki decided to rebrand their initiative. Starting with Cohort 9, what was formerly known as Mobility and Automobile Innovation Lab (MAIL) will now be called Maruti Suzuki Accelerator.
The program offers unique opportunities for startups, including potential investment support through the Maruti Suzuki Innovation Fund. This fund aims to back promising ventures that align with Maruti Suzuki's vision for technological advancement in the automotive sector.
Impact on Startups
Since its inception, Maruti Suzuki has screened over 2,000 startups across eight cohorts. Out of these, they have engaged with 56 startups, onboarding 18 as business partners. These partnerships have generated a combined business exceeding INR 1 billion for these startups.
This accelerator program not only promotes innovation but also contributes significantly to economic growth by creating employment opportunities for young professionals. The inclusion of global startups is expected to further enrich this ecosystem with diverse ideas and cutting-edge technologies.

The decision to open up applications globally reflects Maruti Suzuki's commitment to driving technological advancements in India's automotive industry. By integrating global perspectives and innovations, they aim to stay ahead in a competitive market while fostering a robust startup ecosystem.
The Maruti Suzuki Accelerator continues to be a pivotal platform for nurturing innovative solutions that address contemporary challenges in automobile manufacturing and mobility. As it evolves, it remains dedicated to supporting startups that bring transformative ideas into reality.
