Maruti Suzuki Invicto Struggles To Meet Sales Expectations Amid Rising Demand For Family Cars

The demand for family cars has surged post-pandemic, with many opting for vehicles that accommodate more passengers. These multi-seater cars offer convenience over public transport, leading to a rise in their sales. However, Maruti's family car, Invicto, has not met sales expectations, leaving many puzzled.

Maruti introduced the Invicto by rebadging Toyota's Innova Hycross as part of a global agreement between Suzuki and Toyota. Despite the Innova's success, the Invicto has not mirrored this reception. Over the past six months, its sales have been notably low.

Maruti Invicto Sales Struggle in Family Car Market

In October, only 296 units of the Invicto were sold, a decrease from September's 312. Earlier months also showed modest figures: 193 in May, 128 in June, 251 in July, and 124 in August. This contrasts sharply with the thousands of Innova Hycross units sold by Toyota.

The Invicto is powered by an engine delivering 150.19 BHP and 188 Nm torque, paired with an automatic gearbox. It offers both 7 and 8-seater configurations and comes in two variants: Zeta and Alpha Plus. The car features a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system linked to 50 connected technologies and includes a 7-inch driver display.

Maruti Invicto Sales Struggle in Family Car Market

A significant factor affecting the Invicto's sales is its pricing. In India, it ranges from Rs.25.21 lakhs to Rs.28 lakhs. This high price point has deterred potential buyers who are turning to competitors offering more affordable options.

The unexpected low sales figures for Maruti's Invicto have surprised many in the industry. While family cars are generally seeing increased demand, this model has struggled to capture the market despite its features and capabilities.

Potential Solutions for Maruti

Industry observers suggest that reducing the price of the Invicto or introducing lower-priced variants could boost its sales. Adjusting pricing strategies might help Maruti attract more buyers and improve its market performance.

The current situation highlights the challenges Maruti faces with the Invicto in a competitive market. While equipped with advanced features and multiple seating options, its pricing remains a barrier for many potential customers.
