Martin Sander Appointed To Volkswagen Board For Sales And Marketing
Martin Sander will assume the role of Board Member for Sales, Marketing, and After Sales at Volkswagen Passenger Cars on July 1, 2024. He succeeds Imelda Labbé, who is retiring for personal reasons. Sander will report directly to Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer.

Imelda Labbé has led the department for the past two years, significantly increasing market share and enhancing Volkswagen's brand image. Her efforts with the Energize project have been pivotal in repositioning the brand. Schäfer expressed his respect for her commitment and achievements.
Martin Sander's Background
Sander joins Volkswagen from Ford Motor Company, where he was Chairman of the Board of Management of Ford-Werke GmbH and General Manager Ford Model e for Ford of Europe. He was responsible for developing electric vehicles and software services for connected vehicles in Europe.
Sander has a 25-year career in the automotive industry, having held various management positions at Audi AG in North America and Europe. His roles included Senior Vice President of Sales for Europe, Germany, Americas, and the UK. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Braunschweig.
Imelda Labbé's Career
Labbé has over 35 years of experience in the international automotive industry. From 1986 to 2013, she held management positions at Opel and General Motors (GM), including Opel Head of Quality at the Antwerp plant and Opel Head of Sales for Germany.
In 2013, she joined Volkswagen Group as Spokeswoman of the Board of Management of ŠKODA AUTO Germany. In 2016, she became Global Head of After Sales at Volkswagen Group and later took on Business Development responsibilities at Volkswagen AG. She holds a degree in business administration and a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University.
