Marcella De Bie Enhances Women's Worldwide Car Of The Year Jury Representation
Marcella de Bie, a prominent figure in the Dutch automotive industry, has joined the Women's Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) jury. This award is unique as it consists solely of female motoring journalists. With de Bie's inclusion, the jury now boasts 81 members from 56 countries. Her influence in the Netherlands is significant, especially through her lifestyle-focused YouTube channel and social media presence.
The Netherlands is a key player in Europe's automotive sector, known for its focus on sustainability and innovation. The country has embraced electric and hybrid vehicles, with many drivers opting for smaller cars suited to city life. Larger vehicles remain popular among suburban families. The skilled workforce and advanced technology attract global manufacturers to operate within the country.

Marcella de Bie's journey in the automotive world began in 2015 when she started reviewing cars on her YouTube channel. Over time, she expanded her role by hosting events and producing content for notable organisations like Formula E and FIA. She even ventured into television presenting. "My enthusiasm for presenting is matched only by my desire to share the exhilarating experience that these remarkable vehicles offer," she stated.
The Women's Worldwide Car of the Year was established by Sandy Myhre from New Zealand in 2009. It stands out as the only car awards group made up entirely of women journalists. Sandy Myhre serves as Honorary President, while Marta García holds the position of Executive President. The award aims to highlight outstanding cars annually while amplifying women's voices in the automotive industry.
Odiel Mennink joins Marcella de Bie in representing WWCOTY in the Netherlands. Together, they contribute to a diverse jury that evaluates cars based on criteria like safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, benefits, and environmental impact. The jurors do not choose a 'woman's car' but rather assess vehicles based on universal standards applicable to all drivers.
The WWCOTY's mission extends beyond selecting top cars; it seeks to enhance women's visibility in the automotive sector globally. By doing so, it underscores how mobility can unlock numerous personal and professional opportunities for women worldwide.
