In India, despite the rise in popularity of automatic cars, manual transmissions remain the preferred choice for many. When it comes to buying a car, Indians still lean towards manual gearboxes over automatic ones, even with the latter's growing presence in the market.

However, manual gearboxes still dominate passenger vehicle sales.

Manual gearbox technology, being older and more evolved, is seen as more reliable than its automatic counterpart. In the case of a gearbox issue, it's easier to find a mechanic for a manual transmission than for an automatic.
Automatic transmissions are prone to overheating and can offer a jerky ride in congested traffic conditions, problems not faced by manual gearboxes.
