The Mahindra Thar Roxx is a new off-road-focused SUV competing in the mid-size SUV segment. However, the model directly competes against the likes of the Force Gurkha 5-door, Maruti Suzuki Jimny, and Mahindra Scorpio N.
Out of its main competitors, the Scorpio N stands out as the longest and widest among these models, while the Gurkha 5-door is the tallest. The Thar Roxx boasts the longest wheelbase and largest wheels, the latter reaching up to 19 inches. In contrast, the Jimny is the smallest, measuring just under 4 meters.

Both the Thar Roxx and Scorpio N offer petrol and diesel engine options. The Gurkha is available only with a diesel engine, whereas the Jimny comes exclusively with a petrol engine.
The Thar Roxx petrol variant comes in two states of tune, delivering the highest torque output among its competitors. Its diesel option also offers two states of tune, with power figures comparable to the higher-spec diesel engine in the Scorpio N.

Off-Road Capabilities
When it comes to off-road capabilities, each model has its strengths. The Thar Roxx features the best approach angle, making it ideal for steep climbs. The Jimny excels with the best departure angle, beneficial for descending slopes.
Meanwhile, the Gurkha leads with the best ramp over angle and highest ground clearance at 233mm. Although the Thar Roxx's ground clearance hasn't been disclosed yet, its 3-door counterpart offers 226mm of clearance.

The Thar Roxx and Scorpio N provide both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) options. On the other hand, the Gurkha and Jimny are strictly 4x4 vehicles. This variety allows potential buyers to choose based on their specific driving needs and preferences.
Price Comparison
In terms of pricing, the Thar Roxx is positioned below the Scorpio N. However, prices for its 4x4 variants have not been announced yet. The Jimny stands out as the most affordable option among these SUVs. The Gurkha falls in between in terms of price range.

The Gurkha also boasts superior water wading capacity compared to its rivals. This feature makes it particularly suitable for challenging terrains involving water crossings.
