Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-Door Black & White Shades Revealed: Launch On Independence Day
One of the most anticipated launches from Mahindra this year is the Thar Roxx, a 5-door variant of the Mahindra Thar. This model has been frequently spotted in spy shots and teasers, showcasing its exterior design and interior features. The official white colour has also been revealed.
The Thar Roxx 5-door SUV will be positioned below the Scorpio N in Mahindra's lineup, fitting into the compact SUV segment. It measures 4.3 meters in length and uses a lighter version of the 3G platform introduced with the Scorpio N in 2022. This platform is approximately 40 kg lighter than that of the Scorpio N, promising better performance and efficiency.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Engine Specifications
The Thar Roxx shares its engine options with the Scorpio N and XUV 700. The base variants will feature a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 160 hp and 330 Nm torque, while higher trims will offer up to 175 hp and 380 Nm torque.
Additionally, it will have a Gen 2 mHawk 2.2-litre diesel unit, producing 150 hp and 350 Nm torque on lower variants, and up to 172 hp and 370 Nm torque on top-spec trims. These engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Lower trims of the Thar Roxx will come with RWD format, whereas middle and higher variants will offer 4X4 options with an electronic locking differential possibility. The suspension setup includes an independent front with double wishbone and multilink at the rear with Watts linkage.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Off-Roading Features
The ride quality of the Thar Roxx is enhanced by Frequency Dependent Damping technology and Mahindra's 4Xplor off-road setup. It offers multiple terrain modes such as Snow, Sand, and Mud. The Crawl Smart Assist feature allows users to select speeds ranging from 2.5 km/h to 30 km/h for navigating difficult terrains. Instead of a shift-on-the-fly system, traditional levers provide modes like 2H, 4H, and 4L.
Another notable feature is Intelli Turn Assist, which locks the rear inner wheel according to steering direction for a tighter turning radius at speeds below 15 km/h for up to 15 seconds each time. True to its off-roading capabilities, the Thar Roxx boasts a 41.3-degree approach angle, a ramp-over angle of 23.6 degrees, and a departure angle of 36.1 degrees.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Launch Date, Pricing, and Competition
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is set to launch in India on August 15th, 2024. Expected prices range from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon release, it will compete mainly with the Force Gurkha five-door variant but also face competition from the larger Maruti Jimny. Bookings will open immediately after the official launch and price announcement.
