Mahindra Thar Roxx Unveiled With Panoramic Sunroof, Launching This August
Mahindra's Thar Roxx, a versatile lifestyle off-roader, is set to be unveiled on 15th August. Enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting this reveal since road tests began in 2022. Teasers have confirmed that the Thar Roxx will feature a panoramic sunroof, a first in its segment.
Thar Roxx Panoramic Sunroof
The inclusion of a panoramic sunroof in the Thar Roxx is expected to attract many buyers. This feature has become a standard expectation in the SUV market, even among entry-level sub-4-meter SUVs. Mahindra's XUV3OO was the first subcompact SUV to offer this feature, and it is reported that the Nexon will soon follow suit.

For family-oriented buyers, the panoramic sunroof makes the Thar Roxx an appealing option. It allows kids to enjoy the open sky during weekend trips, enhancing the overall experience. This addition positions the Thar Roxx as a strong competitor against compact and midsize SUVs.
Advantage Over Rivals
The panoramic sunroof gives Thar Roxx an edge over rivals like Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha, which do not offer this feature. While Jimny and Gurkha are capable off-roaders, their lack of a sunroof limits their appeal. In India, where many car users own only one vehicle, Thar Roxx meets their needs more comprehensively than its competitors.

The top-spec variants of Thar Roxx will come with the panoramic sunroof, while mid-spec variants are expected to have a single-pane sunroof. The cost of these variants may be higher due to the complexities involved in integrating a panoramic sunroof into an SUV with ladder frame construction.
Key Features of Thar Roxx
Thar Roxx will come equipped with features borrowed from Mahindra's XUV700 and Scorpio N models. Teasers have shown a large floating infotainment screen and other highlights such as a fully digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, and ventilated front seats. Safety features include a 360° surround view monitor and auto-dimming IRVM.
The top-spec variants are also expected to include ADAS Level 2 features. With its versatility and premium features, Thar Roxx appears poised for success even before its official launch. Prices are anticipated to start at around Rs 15 lakh, with potential initial offers available at launch.
In summary, Mahindra's Thar Roxx aims to cater to both adventure enthusiasts and family-oriented buyers with its comprehensive range of features and innovative design elements like the panoramic sunroof.
