Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-Door Side View Spied Before Launch
Mahindra is gearing up to launch the 5-door Thar Roxx on 15th August. This new model will compete with the Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha 5-door variants. Recently, spy shots of the Thar Roxx's side view surfaced, showcasing its triangular rear quarter glass design. Thanks to automotive enthusiast Manuraj Singh for sharing these exclusive images.
Thar Roxx – Design and Features
The Thar Roxx will feature updates to its front grille and bumper compared to the 3-door model. However, it will retain the circular headlamps, fog lamps, latched hood, rugged bumper, and skid plate. The most noticeable change is its increased size, with an additional 300 mm in length over the 3,985 mm long 3-door version.

New alloy wheels and wider running boards enhance the Thar Roxx's visual appeal. Wide fenders and dual-purpose tyres add to its robust look. The exposed riveted door hinge plates further accentuate its rugged character. The SUV also sports a 4X4 badge above the rear fenders, indicating its off-roading capabilities. At the rear, C-shaped tail lamps stand out, with expected changes in the bumper and tailgate.
Thar Roxx – Equipment List
The Thar Roxx aims to challenge not only the Jimny and 5-door Gurkha but also popular compact SUVs by offering premium features. Mid-variants will come with a single-pane sunroof, while top variants will boast a panoramic sunroof. Other notable features include a large touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch instrument screen, dual-zone climate control, and a wireless charger.

For safety, the Thar Roxx includes ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), an auto-dimming IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror), and a 360° surround view monitor. These features ensure that it meets modern safety standards while providing comfort and convenience.
Thar Roxx – Powertrain Options
The engine options for the Thar Roxx remain consistent with those of the 3-door model. The most affordable variants will use a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 117 PS and 300 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, there are options for a 2.2-litre diesel engine generating 130 PS and 300 Nm or a 2.0-litre petrol unit delivering 150 PS and 300 Nm.
Both engines offer transmission choices of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. To handle the added weight of the larger vehicle, these engines might be tuned for higher performance. Customers can choose between RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) and 4X4 variants.
Thar Roxx – Pricing
Mahindra often introduces special launch prices to attract buyers. For instance, last year’s Thar RWD variant was launched at Rs 9.99 lakh for the first 10,000 bookings. Similarly, Thar Roxx could start at Rs 11 lakh to appeal to a broader audience. The Mahindra Thar Roxx promises to be an exciting addition to the SUV market with its blend of off-roading capabilities and premium features.
