Mahindra Thar 5-Door SUV Launch Confirmed For Mid-2024 – Will Be Built On A Separate Line
Recently, Mahindra confirmed that the upcoming 5-door iteration of the Thar SUV will go on sale in the middle of 2024. The company also confirmed that the Mahindra Thar 5-door will be built on a separate line.
Speaking about the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door, the SUV is expected to sport "Armada" suffix to the "Thar" moniker. Furthermore, the Thar 5-door is expected to come with a more premium interior to justify its premium price tag over the standard Mahindra Thar SUV.
Recent spy shots also confirm that the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door will come with more premium interiors consisting of a larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment. We also expect the model to come with premium upholstery.
Other expected features on the Thar 5-door will include the likes of electrically adjustable driver seat, reclinable rear seats, rear AC vents, a cooled glove box, an electric sunroof, LED lighting, USB-C charging ports and a plethora of modern safety features.
Underneath the skin, the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door is expected to sport the 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that powers the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV. This engine is expected to put out 172.5bhp and 400Nm of peak torque.
Also, Mahindra will be offering a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine with 200bhp and 370Nm of peak torque. Moreover, both these engines will come with automatic and manual gearbox options.
It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door SUV will come with 4WD as standard on all variants. However, we expect the locking rear differential to be an optional extra.
In terms of pricing, we expect the Thar 5-door SUV to be at least Rs 2.5 lakh more expensive than the equivalent Mahindra Thar SUV. Moreover, we expect the most expensive variant of the Thar 5-door SUV to be priced below the most expensive variant of the Scorpio N SUV.
