Mahindra Achieves 24% Growth In SUV Sales During September 2024
In a remarkable performance during September, Mahindra and Mahindra showcased a strong sales increase, with a significant 24% rise in SUV sales, translating into 51,062 units. This impressive figure is part of a broader 16% growth in overall sales, which saw the company moving a total of 87,839 vehicles. Among these, the Mahindra XUV700 stands out as the brand's top SUV offering, highlighting the company's strength in this segment.
The growth in SUV sales is a clear testament to Mahindra's command in the market, especially with models like the XUV700, Thar, and Scorpio N leading the charge. This surge is part of a broader trend that saw the company's year-to-date (YTD) figures for the fiscal year 2025 (FY25) reach 2,60,210 units, marking a notable improvement from the 2,14,904 units recorded in FY24. Such growth underscores Mahindra's ongoing momentum and its ability to cater to India's burgeoning demand for SUVs.

The unveiling of the Thar Roxx, which is set to begin bookings on October 3, further emphasizes Mahindra's innovative edge. The new model not only features an extended wheelbase for additional second-row seating and boot space but also boasts both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and 4x4 drivetrain options. Enhanced with new projector headlamps, LED DRLs, stylish alloy wheels, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the Thar Roxx is poised to make a strong impression on the off-road vehicle market.
Adding to the excitement, Mahindra recently conducted an auction for the inaugural Thar Roxx, featuring the special 001 VIN code, where bids soared beyond 1 crore. The pricing for the 4x4 variants of the Thar Roxx was disclosed last month, starting at ₹18.79 lakh, setting a new benchmark for the brand in this segment.

Mahindra's strategic focus on expanding its SUV lineup and enhancing vehicle features to meet consumer expectations has evidently paid off, as demonstrated by its strong performance in September. The company's commitment to innovation and market responsiveness, coupled with its robust portfolio of vehicles, positions it well for continued growth in India's competitive automotive landscape.
As we look ahead, Mahindra's trajectory seems promising, with the introduction of new models and the sustained popularity of its existing lineup. The company's ability to blend cutting-edge technology with practical vehicle design ensures it remains at the forefront of India's auto industry.
