Mahindra Expands XUV700 Lineup With New MX Automatic Variant

Mahindra, a prominent car manufacturer in India known for its SUVs, is set to introduce a new entry-level variant of its popular XUV700. The XUV700, launched in late 2021, has been instrumental in Mahindra securing its position as the fourth-best selling car manufacturer in India. The SUV has received continuous updates and new variants to maintain its appeal among buyers.

According to a government approval document, the new variant will be named the 'MX Automatic'. Currently, the XUV700 MX is available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The introduction of an automatic gearbox option aims to make the XUV700 more accessible to a broader audience.

The existing XUV700 MX variant offers both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations with petrol and diesel engine options. However, the new MX Automatic variant will be available exclusively in a 5-seater configuration.

The current ex-showroom price for the Mahindra XUV700 MX Petrol Manual stands at Rs 14 lakh. The new MX Automatic variant is expected to be priced around Rs 15.80 lakh. This estimate is based on the addition of the automatic gearbox option.

In terms of features, the XUV700 MX Automatic is anticipated to include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, USB ports in both front and rear rows, a 4-speaker sound system, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, rear AC vents, and electrically adjustable ORVMs.

Market Impact

The introduction of this new variant could attract buyers who prefer an automatic transmission but are looking for a more affordable option within the XUV700 lineup.

While Rs 15.80 lakh might still be considered high for some middle-class buyers, it offers a more budget-friendly alternative compared to other variants.
