Mahindra BE 6e Vs XEV 9e: Specs & Features Compared

Mahindra has unveiled its new electric SUVs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e, as part of its strategy to lead the EV market. The BE 6e is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh, while the XEV 9e starts at Rs 21.90 lakh. More models are expected in the future.

The base variants of these SUVs, known as 'Pack One,' come with a range of features but lack some advanced options like a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS. Both models share a powertrain with a 59-kWh battery and an electric motor producing 231 hp and 380 Nm torque.

Features and Safety Kit

The BE 6e Pack One variant boasts dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrument cluster, powered by Mahindra's MAIA architecture. It includes OTA updates, built-in Amazon Alexa, and social media apps. The SUV offers connectivity features like 5G support and pre-installed OTT apps.

Safety features in the BE 6e include six airbags, rear camera and sensors, brake-by-wire technology, rear disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, electronic parking brake, and driver drowsiness detection.

The XEV 9e shares many features with the BE 6e but lacks some elements such as an electronic parking brake and push button start/stop. It also misses out on pre-installed OTT apps and certain connectivity options like 5G.

Powertrain and Performance

Both SUVs offer a range of up to 542 km (MIDC) on a single charge. They feature virtual engine sounds, single-pedal drive capability, variable ratio power steering, and drive modes including Range, Everyday, and Race. The BE 6e Pack One variant also includes a Boost function with Race mode.

The base variants do not include some desirable features such as seven airbags, blind spot monitoring, or self-parking functions. Additionally missing are premium audio systems by Harman Kardon with Dolby Atmos and head-up displays with augmented reality.

Additional Costs

While the base variants are competitively priced at Rs 18.90 lakh for the BE 6e and Rs 21.90 lakh for the XEV 9e, buyers will need to pay extra for chargers and installation services. Options include a choice between a 7.2 kW or an 11 kW charger.

Despite lacking some high-end features in their base variants, Mahindra's new electric SUVs offer robust performance capabilities along with essential safety equipment. These vehicles represent Mahindra's commitment to expanding its presence in the electric vehicle sector.
