Mahindra Marazzo Discontinued As Competition Intensifies & Sales Dwindle
Mahindra has reportedly discontinued the Marazzo MPV from the Indian market. This comes amidst a growing demand for family-oriented MPVs, making the segment highly competitive. The Marazzo has been removed from Mahindra's official website, indicating its potential exit.
There were discussions about a facelift and a new engine for the Marazzo. However, it appears that Mahindra has decided to discontinue it. The Indian carmaker has recently been phasing out models with low sales, including the KUV100 NXT.

The Mahindra Marazzo was distinct in the Indian market. It featured a ladder-frame chassis, a transversely mounted engine, and front-wheel drive. Competing with models like the Kia Carens, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, and Maruti Suzuki XL6.
The Marazzo came equipped with an aluminium suspension setup, enhancing ride quality. It also had rear AC vents and offered the second row as either captain seats or a bench. Despite these features, its shark-inspired design did not resonate well with Indian buyers.
Sales figures for the Mahindra Marazzo have been consistently low. On average, only about 60 units were sold monthly, translating to just two units per day nationwide. In the past year, only 721 units were sold in India.

In May 2023, Mahindra recorded its lowest sales figure for the Marazzo, selling just 16 units. This poor performance likely influenced the decision to discontinue the model.
Potential Future For Mahindra Marazzo
Mahindra has a history of revamping slow-selling models into successful ones. Examples include the Bolero Neo and the new-gen Thar. There is a possibility that Mahindra might reintroduce the Marazzo with updates and a facelift in the future.
When launched, the Mahindra Marazzo attracted significant attention. However, its raked design is believed to be a major factor in its lack of success. The MPV offered numerous features and a robust engine.

That being said, the Mahindra Marazzo is a solid product. However, Mahindra seems to have been slightly confused with its positioning in the market. Furthermore, the entry of the Kia Carens did not make life easy for the Marazzo.
