Mahindra Bolero Neo Achieves 1-Star Safety Rating At Global NCAP – Automaker Responds

In a recent safety evaluation by Global NCAP, the Mahindra Bolero Neo received a 1-star safety rating for both adult and child occupants. This result has sparked discussions about vehicle safety standards and manufacturer responses.

Mahindra Bolero Neo's Performance In Crash Tests

The Bolero Neo scored 20.26 out of 34.00 for adult occupant safety and 12.71 out of 49.00 for child occupant safety. Despite its robust appearance, the vehicle showed several areas of concern during the testing phase.

Notably, the driver's chest protection was weak, and the knee protection for both the driver and passenger was marginal. The footwell area was unstable, and the bodyshell was rated as incapable of withstanding further loadings.

On the child safety front, while the forward-facing child seat provided nearly full protection for a 3-year-old, the rearward-facing seat for an 18-month-old did not adequately protect against head exposure. There were also issues with the installation of Child Restraint Systems (CRS), with multiple positions failing to meet safety standards.

Mahindra's Commitment To Safety

In response to these results, Mahindra emphasized its commitment to delivering safe vehicles. The company highlighted its history of compliance with evolving safety regulations and its efforts to enhance safety features across its model range.

Mahindra also pointed to the high safety ratings of other models in its lineup, such as the Thar, XUV700, XUV300, and Scorpio-N, which have received 4 and 5 stars from Global NCAP.

The company's response underscores an ongoing focus on innovation and adherence to safety standards, aiming to ensure the well-being of its customers.

DriveSpark Thinks

As safety evaluations like these from Global NCAP continue to shape consumer perceptions and manufacturer priorities, the spotlight on safety features and technology in vehicles becomes increasingly important. Mahindra's efforts to meet and exceed safety regulations reflect a broader industry trend towards prioritizing occupant safety in vehicle design and development.
