Toyota Kirloskar's Rs 20,000 Crore Investment In Maharashtra For EV Manufacturing

The Maharashtra government has partnered with Toyota Kirloskar Motor to set up a new manufacturing plant in Auric City, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. This facility, with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore, will focus on producing electric and hybrid vehicles with a capacity to manufacture 4,00,000 cars annually.

Industries Minister Uday Samant revealed that the project would generate 16,000 jobs, split evenly between direct and indirect employment. He also mentioned that the State Industries Department plans to release a white paper on industrial investment before the code of conduct is implemented.

Job Creation & Land Allocation

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde highlighted the significance of this project for India's electric car industry. He emphasized the state's efforts to promote electric vehicles and their integration into public transport systems.

The newly appointed Consul General of Japan, Yagi Koji, visited Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at his residence Varsha. During this meeting, Shinde encouraged Japan to increase its investments in Maharashtra's industrial and infrastructure sectors. He assured that a special industrial park would be developed at Supe in Pune district specifically for Japanese companies.

Strengthening Indo-Japanese Relations

Koji expressed Japan's dedication to enhancing its relationship with India. "The investment agreement signed by Toyota Kirloskar Company today underscores Maharashtra's industry-friendly environment," he said. This collaboration is expected to further solidify economic ties between the two nations.

The factory's establishment aligns with Maharashtra's broader strategy to boost industrial growth and job creation in the region. The state government is keen to attract more foreign investments by offering supportive infrastructure and policies.
