Rookie Linus Lundqvist Dominates With First Pole In All-Honda Front Row At Road America
Linus Lundqvist, a rookie with Chip Ganassi Racing, secured his first pole position for the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America. Lundqvist's performance in the #8 car led a Honda-dominated front row in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES qualifying session. Colton Herta from Andretti Global will start alongside Lundqvist in P2.
The qualifying session saw Honda drivers filling the top four spots on the grid. Herta impressed in the wet-to-dry conditions, setting his fastest time just before a crash by Team Penske's Josef Newgarden brought out the red flag, ending the session. Marcus Armstrong and Kyle Kirkwood will start in third and fourth positions, respectively.
Armstrong and Kirkwood will begin this weekend's race in the same order they finished at the Detroit Grand Prix last weekend, where Honda achieved a 1-2-3-4 finish. The strong performance continues Honda's dominance in the series.

Driver Reactions
Lundqvist expressed his excitement: "Wow, what a feeling! My first pole. Man, it's been a rough couple of races for us [at Indianapolis and Detroit], but it's fantastic to be able to bounce back like this. It's better than I could've wished for."
Armstrong also shared his thoughts: "We had a good session in the wet, honestly. I wish we could've done another lap once the track started drying out, but it's still a great result for us."
Championship Standings and Recent Performances
After six championship rounds of the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Honda leads the Manufacturers' Championship with 482 points, ahead of Chevrolet's 466 points. Scott Dixon became the first two-time race winner of the season last weekend at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.
Dixon now leads the Drivers' Championship standings with 216 points, followed by his teammate Alex Palou with 198 points. Palou won at Road America last year and went on to secure his second NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship in three years.
