Luftgekühlt Celebrates Tenth Anniversary With Record Attendance And European Expansion In 2024

The Luftgekühlt event series, celebrating air-cooled Porsche models, marked its tenth anniversary with a grand event at Universal Studios Backlot. This location was previously used for the successful Luft 6 and provided an iconic backdrop for showcasing over 400 cars. The event attracted more visitors than ever, offering fans a chance to see legendary "hero" cars in famous movie set locations.

In 2024, the Luftgekühlt team expanded their reach by hosting events in Europe. They visited Wroclaw, Poland in June and Copenhagen, Denmark in September. These events recreated the unique experience that has captivated North American audiences, introducing many new enthusiasts to the Porsche brand. Both locations were met with great enthusiasm from attendees.

Alongside these major events, the team also participated in smaller gatherings. In Stuttgart, Germany on September 28, they supported the Porsche Brand Store’s Saturday Tunes event. Historic air-cooled cars were displayed in true Luftgekühlt style. Additionally, they joined the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival from October 11-13, celebrating legendary driver David Hobbs with a special display of Porsche heritage and motorsport vehicles.

This year also saw the debut of Air|Water, a sister brand to Luftgekühlt. The first standalone event took place in Southern California in April. Unlike Luftgekühlt's focus on air-cooled models, Air|Water includes both air- and water-cooled Porsches, broadening participation for fans and owners alike. The event's success suggests a promising future for this new venture.

Luftgekühlt's growth over ten years has been supported by dedicated partners who share their vision. Co-founder Patrick Long and Creative Director Jeff Zwart expressed gratitude to fans and partners for their continued support. Planning for the 2025 season is already underway with exciting developments expected soon.

The Chattanooga Motorcar Festival highlighted the iconic Porsche 935 K4-01 driven by David Hobbs in 1982 IMSA GT class races. Hobbs made a special appearance at the festival and participated in a panel discussion hosted by Bob Varsha. Enthusiasts enjoyed a curated display of air-cooled Porsches during this celebration.

Looking Ahead to Future Events

Luftgekühlt continues to innovate with creative presentations of historically significant Porsches at unique venues worldwide. Their dedication to showcasing these vehicles through engaging experiences remains strong as they plan future events. Fans can anticipate more exciting announcements as preparations for next year progress.

The introduction of Air|Water marks an expansion of Luftgekühlt's offerings by embracing newer Porsche models alongside traditional air-cooled ones. This inclusive approach allows more enthusiasts to participate while maintaining the core values that have made Luftgekühlt so popular among car lovers globally.
