London Concours To Celebrate The Great Coachbuilder Zagato With Dedicated Retrospective This June
The London Concours, set to take place from June 4-6, 2024, at the Honourable Artillery Company in the heart of London, will feature a special display paying tribute to the legendary coachbuilder Zagato. The retrospective will showcase Zagato's iconic designs from the 1950s to the present day. The class, presented by DRVN Group, will highlight Zagato's history of pushing the boundaries of design and aerodynamic efficiency. One of the standout cars in the display will be the 1958 Abarth 750 Zagato DB. This small sports car was known for its lightweight body and distinctive "double bubble" roof design. With a powerful 750cc engine, it was a force to be reckoned with on the racetrack, winning numerous races and accolades. The 1960 Bristol 406 Zagato will also be featured, combining British engineering with Italian design. Only six of these grand-tourers were ever produced, making it an incredibly rare sight.Another highlight of the display will be the 1991 Alfa Romeo SZ, nicknamed "Il Mostro" for its bold and unconventional design. With its angular lines and striking presence, it was a departure from traditional Alfa Romeo styling. Powered by a 3.0-litre 'Busso' V6 engine, it delivered an impressive 210 horsepower to the rear wheels. Only 1036 SZs were produced, along with 278 convertible RZs.The Ferrari 550 Zagato GTZ Barchetta will also make an appearance at the London Concours. Created in 2009 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Ferrari-Zagato relationship, this open-top sports car combined Ferrari's performance pedigree with Zagato's elegant aesthetics. With a powerful 5.5-litre V12 engine producing 485 horsepower, it is one of the rarest modern Ferraris, with only three believed to have been built.Rounding out the lineup is the 2012 Aston Martin V12 Zagato, created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the iconic DB4GT Zagato. This modern interpretation of the classic DB4 Zagato featured a compact yet muscular design, with enhancements such as a double-bubble roof and enlarged rear arches. Powered by a 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510 horsepower, it was a fusion of British engineering and Italian design artistry. The London Concours will bring together a total of 80 machines, ranging from classics to modern hypercars, in the heart of London. It promises to be an incredible event for car enthusiasts and collectors alike. Stay tuned for further announcements as the event approaches.
