Lia Block Returns To ARA Action Driving Subaru WRX ARA24 At Lake Superior Performance Rally
Subaru Motorsports USA has announced that Lia Block will take the wheel of Brandon Semenuk’s WRX ARA24, with Keaton Williams as her co-driver. Semenuk, having secured his third consecutive American Rally Association (ARA) championship, will not participate in the final event of the season, the Lake Superior Performance Rally (LSPR) on October 11-12.
Block expressed her enthusiasm for returning to ARA action at LSPR. "Excited is an understatement for the feeling going into LSPR," she said. "Subaru and Vermont SportsCar have given me such a cool opportunity to compete at a rally in their top-level racecar."
Lia Block is a seasoned racer who recently claimed the 2023 ARA Open 2WD championship, becoming the youngest champion in ARA history. She is currently competing in her rookie season of open-wheel racing overseas with Williams Racing in the F1 Academy. Her racing experience also includes events like the Baja 1000, Nitrocross, Extreme E, and kart races.
Growing up around rally events, Block was influenced by her father, Ken Block. Ken began his rally career with Subaru Motorsports USA before gaining fame through his Gymkhana films. Travis Pastrana, an extreme sports icon and Ken's early teammate, will join Lia as a teammate at this year's LSPR.
Lia Block feels a deep connection to rallying. "Rally has always been my home. It's my roots," she stated. "My family and I have such a special history with this team; I wouldn’t want this milestone to be with anyone else." Despite not competing in a rally car for some time, she looks forward to mastering the high-speed vehicle.
The 2024 LSPR offers fans a chance to witness Block's talent against top ARA competitors. Her goals are modest: "My goal for this upcoming weekend is to have fun, go fast, and finish the rally strong and comfortable."
