Lanzante To Showcase First Road-Legal Porsche 935s At Goodwood Festival Of Speed
Over recent years, Lanzante has consistently showcased remarkable cars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In 2024, they will return with their most diverse and thrilling collection yet, featuring projects based on McLaren and Porsche models. Each car will be unveiled for the first time, highlighting Lanzante's engineering prowess and craftsmanship.
The centrepiece of Lanzante's display includes the first two road-converted Porsche 935s. Originally a track-only model launched at the Rennsport Reunion in 2019, these cars are based on the 911 GT2 RS. They feature a 3.8-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo engine producing 700bhp. Porsche built only 77 units, and two owners approached Lanzante to make their cars road-legal.
The conversion process took nearly 18 months and involved significant upgrades. These include a unique suspension setup, newly engineered wheels, an upgraded braking system with an integrated handbrake, and a bespoke electronics system. Additionally, custom headlights were integrated into the aerodynamic bodywork to mimic existing bonnet air intakes.
The two converted Porsche 935s will be displayed in iconic motorsport liveries. One static example features a modern take on the red and blue Martini livery. The other car, part of the Supercar display, sports the famous red and white Marlboro chevron design.
McLaren Models on Show
Lanzante's stand will also feature five McLaren models and two Porsches. Among them is the latest Lanzante-developed McLaren P1 HDK and a recently recommissioned McLaren Speedtail. The Speedtail underwent extensive rebuilding, including chassis changes and repairs to hybrid and wiring systems. Its aerodynamically optimised bodywork was replaced, and it received a bespoke paint finish.
A trio of Gulf-liveried GTR models – F1 GTR-97, P1 GTR-18, and Senna GTR – will also be displayed alongside these cars. Additionally, the latest version of the 1980s Formula 1-engined TAG Turbo model will be showcased. This ninth car in a series of eleven honours John Watson, who drove with TAG-Porsche power in a McLaren during the early '80s.
TAG Championship Model Debut
A newly developed lightweight version of the TAG Turbo called TAG Championship will make its global debut at Goodwood. This model is one of just three to be built as a tribute to four-time Formula 1 champion Alain Prost, featuring his patriotic helmet colours.
'MadMac' Driftcar Unveil
Lanzante's ongoing collaboration with 'Mad Mike' Whiddett will also be highlighted with the unveiling of the 'MadMac' driftcar at 10 am on Thursday, July 11th. This project celebrates ten years since Mad Mike introduced drifting to the Festival of Speed and has garnered significant global interest since its announcement last year.
Lanzante’s participation in this year's Goodwood Festival promises to be memorable with their impressive lineup of road-converted Porsches and various McLaren models.
