Lamborghini Unveils Electrified Urus SE In Canada, A Leap Towards Decarbonization

In a significant move towards sustainable luxury mobility, Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the Urus SE, its first electrified Super SUV, in Toronto, Canada. This premiere follows the global introduction at the Beijing Auto Show on April 24. The event, held at The Symes, showcased the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to an audience of customers, media guests, and VIPs, including Andrea Baldi, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Americas.

Andrea Baldi reflected on the journey of the Urus since its 2017 debut, highlighting its role in redefining SUV performance and luxury. The Urus has become Lamborghini's best-selling model, capturing over half of the brand's Canadian sales in 2023. The Urus SE represents a leap forward in the Super SUV category and aligns with Lamborghini's Direzione Cor Tauri strategy aimed at electrification and decarbonization.

The Urus SE sets a new standard with its 789-horsepower hybrid powertrain, achieving an 80% reduction in emissions. It combines a twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine with a 25-kWh lithium-ion battery, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 312 km/h. Notably, it features a permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor within its 8-speed automatic transmission, allowing for over 60 kilometers of electric-only driving.

Lamborghini's commitment to sustainability is evident in its Direzione Cor Tauri 2.0 strategy, which includes the electrification of the Urus range. Following the introduction of the Revuelto in March 2023, the brand plans to launch a second High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) by the end of 2024, replacing the Huracán.

In 2023, Lamborghini achieved a milestone by delivering over 10,000 vehicles globally, marking a 12.1% increase from the previous year. The Urus models have been particularly successful in Canada, accounting for approximately 54% of Lamborghini's sales in the country and ranking among the top five vehicles in the Super Sport Utility Vehicle (SSUV) segment.

Customers eager to experience the Urus SE can expect deliveries to commence at the beginning of 2025. This move not only underscores Lamborghini's dedication to innovation but also its commitment to reducing environmental impact while maintaining the performance and luxury synonymous with its brand.
