Kia UK Celebrates Historic Sales Milestone In First Half Of 2024
Kia UK has achieved its highest-ever sales in the first half of 2024, registering over 60,000 new cars. This milestone marks a significant achievement for the brand, continuing its positive momentum from 2023. Kia's market share stands at 6.0% year-to-date.
June was particularly notable for Kia, with the brand registering 10,321 new cars in the UK. This figure represents Kia's best June performance on record. The Sportage model played a crucial role, finishing June as the best-selling new car in the UK.
Electrified vehicles have been a major contributor to Kia's success, accounting for 49% of its first-half sales in the UK. The brand's range of compact SUVs, including the Sportage, Niro, and XCeed, combined for a total of 39,190 sales. This gave Kia a 14.3% share in the C-SUV segment year-to-date.
The Sportage continued to be a favourite among UK buyers throughout the first six months of 2024. It ranked as the second best-selling car overall with 24,239 units sold year-to-date. Globally, the Sportage also performed well, leading Kia’s global sales with 267,536 units sold.
Kia started 2024 strongly with a record-breaking first quarter. The brand finished Q1 as the fourth best-selling brand in the UK and maintained this position through Q2. Additionally, Kia was the second best-selling brand for electrified vehicles during this period.
In April, Kia celebrated another milestone by logging its 1.5 millionth sale in the UK. This historic achievement was marked by an EV6 ‘GT-Line S’ in Yacht Blue. Simon Hetherington, Commercial Director at Kia UK Limited, commented on these achievements: "To complete an incredible number of record-breaking achievements in the first half of the year is massively significant."
Future Prospects and New Models
The remainder of 2024 looks promising for Kia as it plans to introduce another electric vehicle to the UK market. The Kia EV3 is set to arrive in Q4 2024 and promises a range of up to 372 miles. Pricing and specifications for this model will be revealed in Q3.
Simon Hetherington expressed confidence about future growth: "With the Sportage cementing itself as the UK’s favourite car last month... we are certain that as a brand our growth will continue."
Kia UK's impressive performance in various segments and consistent sales growth highlight its strong market presence and strategic planning.
