Kia Syros Debuts In India: Bookings To Start From January 3

The Kia Syros has been officially introduced in India, marking the brand's fifth SUV offering in the country. Positioned in the sub-compact SUV segment, it competes alongside models like the Kia Sonet. Bookings for this new model will begin on January 3, 2025, with deliveries expected to start in February of the same year.

With its unique design and features, the Syros aims to attract a younger and more premium audience compared to the Sonet. Although both vehicles share similar dimensions, their styling is distinct. The Syros adopts Kia's Design 2.0 philosophy, first seen with the Kia EV9 earlier this year.

Kia Syros: Design and Features

The exterior of the Syros showcases vertical LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a robust front bumper, and a striking face. Its side profile features a flat roofline reminiscent of recreational vehicles (RVs), flush door handles, and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, high-mounted L-shaped LED taillights wrap around and connect to the roofline.

Inside, the Syros boasts a 30-inch trinity panoramic dual-screen setup that includes a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver's display. This system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional interior features include ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers, sliding and reclining second-row seats, push-button start/stop engine functionality, a 360-degree parking camera, wireless charging capabilities, twin USB-C ports, front parking sensors, and a panoramic sunroof.

Kia Syros: Safety and Specifications

Safety is enhanced with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) level 2 technology offering 16 adaptive features such as lane keep assist. Other safety measures include hill start assist, electronic stability control, and six airbags. The Syros will be available with both petrol and diesel engines.

The petrol variant features a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo engine producing 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque. It pairs with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The diesel variant uses a 1.5-litre engine generating 116 bhp and 250 Nm of torque paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Kia Syros: Market Positioning

Kia strategically positions the Syros between the Seltos and Sonet models where no other SUV currently exists. This placement targets customers seeking higher trims of sub-compact SUVs or entry-level variants of compact SUVs like Hyundai Creta or Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

By offering premium features typically found in higher segments at competitive pricing within its category, Kia aims to carve out a niche for itself in India's growing automotive market through this latest addition to their lineup.
