Kia Syros To Feature Two Engine Options: A Turbo Petrol & A Turbo Diesel
The Kia Syros is set to make its global debut on 19 December, with a launch planned for early 2025. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, this new SUV will offer two engine choices. These include a 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, providing options for different driving preferences.
Engine Options and Performance
The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is Kia's smallest yet more potent than the naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol. It delivers an impressive 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT for this engine, offering flexibility in driving styles.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine is a familiar choice in Kia's lineup, found in models from the Sonet to the Carens. This engine produces 114bhp and 250Nm of torque. It comes with multiple transmission options: a six-speed manual, six-speed iMT, or a six-speed torque converter automatic.
Design and Features
Teaser images of the Kia Syros suggest a boxy design with distinctive low-set headlamps and a high roofline. The SUV aims to provide additional features and an enhanced rear-seat experience compared to the Sonet, making it an attractive option for those seeking more comfort and utility.
Kia's decision to reserve the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine for the Sonet indicates their strategy to create clear price differentiation between models. It's anticipated that there will be an approximately Rs 1 lakh price difference between the Sonet and Syros, allowing consumers to choose based on budget and feature preferences.
The introduction of the Kia Syros reflects the brand's commitment to expanding its SUV offerings in India, catering to diverse consumer needs with varied engine options and enhanced features.
