Kia Sonet Reaches 100,000 Units Sold In Record Time
In under a year since its introduction in January 2024, Kia has marked a significant achievement with its New Sonet, reaching over 100,000 units sold. The compact SUV has quickly become a favorite among buyers, selling nearly 10,000 units monthly, thanks to its competitive starting price of 7.99 Lakh (ex-showroom). This impressive sales figure underscores the New Sonet’s strong appeal in the modern compact SUV market.
Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, Sr. VP and Head of Sales and Marketing at Kia, emphasized the company's customer-centric approach, stating, "This milestone is a testament to the trust and appreciation of our customers, motivating us to continue delivering products that surpass expectations." Kia's dedication to meeting customer preferences is evident in the New Sonet's success.

The New Sonet’s Wide Appeal
The New Sonet stands out in the market with an extensive range of 22 variants that cater to a wide array of customer preferences. Offering six different powertrain options, the model has successfully drawn in a diverse group of buyers. A significant 76% of customers have favored gasoline engines, while the diesel-powered 1.5L SUVs have also found a solid audience, making up the remaining 24% of sales.
The preference for automatic and intelligent manual transmissions, which constitute 34% of the total sales, highlights the increasing demand for these options. Furthermore, the popularity of sunroof-equipped variants, accounting for 79% of sales, showcases the features that modern buyers are looking for in compact SUVs.
Innovative Features and Cost Efficiency
Kia's New Sonet is not only about variety but also about innovation and affordability. It is packed with 15 robust standard safety features, 10 ADAS Level1 features, and over 70 connected car features, setting it apart from competitors.
Additionally, it boasts the lowest maintenance cost in its segment — 16% and 14% lower for petrol and diesel variants, respectively, compared to the segment average. This cost efficiency, combined with the choice of five interior color options and a variety of exterior colors — eight monotone, two dual-tone, and one matte finish — further enhances its appeal.
The New Sonet by Kia has unequivocally established itself as a frontrunner in the compact SUV segment within just 11 months of its launch. By offering a blend of innovative features, varied powertrain options, and affordability, it caters to a wide range of customer needs and preferences.
