Kia Seltos Achieves 1 Lakh+ Booking Milestone – Booking Average Of 13,500 Units Per Month

The Kia Seltos has marked its presence as an exceptional choice among Indian car enthusiasts, achieving a significant milestone of crossing over 1 lakh bookings. This achievement is a testament to the collective efforts invested in improving the overall package.

The introduction of Seltos marked Kia Motors' entry into the Indian market, and it has since become an emblem of success for the South Korean automaker on Indian soil. The Seltos, with its robust appeal, has been instrumental in Kia India's impressive journey.

In the competitive mid-size SUV segment, the Kia Seltos has emerged as a frontrunner for Indian consumers. By December 2023, the sales figures highlighted the Kia Seltos as the top-selling compact SUV in India, surpassing the long-reigning Hyundai Creta.

The introduction of the revamped New Seltos, also known as Seltos 2.0, further solidified its position with a fresh exterior design and upgraded interiors. Launched in July 2023, the new iteration of Seltos attracted over 1 lakh bookings so far.

Since its launch, Kia reported an average of 13,500 bookings each month, showcasing the unwavering appeal of the Seltos among Indian consumers. Furthermore, the starting price point has also been kept very attractive at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Given the impressive sales performance in 2023, with 1.04 lakh units sold, the over 1 lakh bookings for the new Seltos present a valuable opportunity for Kia to delve deeper into customer preferences and emerging market trends.

A notable insight is a preference for automatic variants, which account for nearly 50% of the total bookings. This suggests that the Seltos are particularly favoured among urban residents, first-time buyers, and the modern-day consumer.

While petrol variants are preferred by a majority, diesel models still capture a substantial 42% of the market share, indicating a diverse customer base. Additionally, the demand for top variants equipped with sunroofs constitutes 80% of the bookings.

Also, the inclusion of Level-2 ADAS technology in the Seltos Facelift, offering 17 safety features, has attracted 40% of the bookings, underscoring the growing importance of safety technologies among Indian buyers.

Reflecting on the overwhelming response to the new Seltos, Mr Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales & Business Officer at Kia India, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the market success of the SUV. He emphasized that the new Seltos stands out as one of the smartest SUV choices available, a sentiment strongly echoed by the customer response.
