Kia Recalls 4,358 Seltos SUVs In India: Potential Issue Related To Electronic Oil Pump Control

Kia has issued a voluntary recall for the Seltos SUV in the Indian market due to potential issues with the electronic oil pump controllers. The recall affects 4,358 units of the Kia Seltos equipped with CVT gearbox and the company’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, manufactured between February 28th, 2023, and July 13th, 2023.

According to Kia, a potential error has been detected with the electronic oil pump controllers in these vehicles, known as iVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission). Customers of the affected units will be contacted by Kia and asked to bring their vehicles to the nearest dealership for a free replacement of the electronic oil pump controller.

The recall aims to address the potential failure of the electronic oil pump controller, which could affect the performance of the CVT gearbox. Kia assures customers that the replacement will be done at no additional cost and with minimal inconvenience.

The Seltos facelift currently on sale is not affected by this recall. The Seltos competes in the highly competitive compact SUV segment and offers various powertrain options, including the 1.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 113 bhp and 144 Nm, with either a 6-speed manual or iVT (CVT) gearbox.

There is also a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with 158bhp and 253Nm of torque, paired with an iMT or a 7-speed DCT. Lastly the 1.5-litre diesel engine with 114bhp and 250Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or iMT unit or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
