Kia Georgia Commences Assembly Of The Groundbreaking 2025 EV9 All-Electric SUV

The 2025 Kia EV9 has become the first electric vehicle assembled in Georgia, joining the Telluride, Sorento, and Sportage SUVs at Kia’s West Point facility. On May 30, 2024, Kia Georgia celebrated this milestone with key figures including SeungKyu (Sean) Yoon, President and CEO for Kia North America and Kia America, and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.

Governor Kemp expressed his pride in the achievement, highlighting the collaboration between state and local partners with Kia. He praised the Kia Georgia team for their continued commitment to the state, aiming to make Georgia a leader in e-mobility. The EV9's introduction marks a significant expansion of Kia’s operations in Georgia.

2025 Kia EV9 Assembly Begins in Georgia

The EV9 joins an award-winning lineup of SUVs at the West Point facility. This development follows a $200 million expansion that created approximately 200 new jobs and enabled the assembly of both electric and traditional vehicles on the same line. Yoon emphasized Kia’s dedication to the U.S. market and Georgia through their Plan S initiative.

Yoon noted that the EV9 has received prestigious accolades such as World Car of the Year, World EV of the Year, and North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. He expressed confidence in the Kia Georgia team’s ability to maintain high standards in vehicle assembly.

Stuart Countess, President and CEO of Kia Georgia, reflected on the plant’s history since its first vehicle rolled off the line on Nov. 16, 2009. He credited the team’s resilience and quality focus for their ongoing success. Countess expressed excitement about adding Kia’s flagship EV to their production lineup.

Kia Georgia, Inc., based in Seoul, Korea, is Kia Corporation's first manufacturing site in North America. The facility has an annual capacity of 350,000 units and spans 2,200 acres in West Point, Ga. It began mass production on Nov. 16, 2009. The plant currently assembles the Telluride SUV, Sorento SUV (excluding HEV and PHEV models), Sportage SUV (excluding HEV and PHEV models), and now the all-electric EV9 SUV.
