Kia EV9 Scoops 'Large Company Car Of The Year' At Auto Express Awards 2024
The Kia EV9 has been awarded 'Large Company Car of the Year' at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2024. This accolade highlights its impressive real-world range and spacious seating for up to seven passengers. The EV9 continues to add to its growing list of achievements.
Customer deliveries of the Kia EV9 began in January 2024, and it has quickly become a favourite among both fleet and retail customers. With approximately 60% of sales going to fleets, this model is versatile enough to meet various company car needs.

The EV9 offers a range of up to 349 miles on a single charge, ultra-fast 800V charging capability, and seating for six or seven people depending on the trim level. These features make it an ideal choice for company car users who need ample cargo space or frequently travel long distances.
Paul Barker, Editor at Auto Express, praised the EV9, stating, "Kia is a brand that blurs the boundaries between mainstream and premium brands, and the striking EV9 is the brand’s poshest car yet. Strong performance, a smooth ride and aesthetics that offer genuine wow-factor both inside and out combine with genuine practicality thanks to its up-to seven-seat layout."
The EV9 also received recognition as a ‘Highly Commended’ model in the ‘Large SUV of the Year’ category. Additionally, the Kia Sportage earned commendation in its own class as ‘Mid-sized SUV of the Year’. These accolades reflect Kia's consistent performance across different vehicle sizes.
Kia's smaller models have also impressed Auto Express in previous years. For instance, in 2022, the Kia Niro won ‘Small SUV of the Year’, marking its first award from any publication and boosting its market presence significantly.
Expanding Electrification
Kia's ambitious electrification plans aim to expand their already extensive EV lineup to 15 models globally by 2027. The EV9 will soon be joined by the smaller EV3 later this year, offering another competitive option for both personal and company car buyers in the UK.
The awards are determined through a comprehensive judging process by Auto Express's editorial team. They evaluate various aspects such as price, practicality, styling, technology, safety features, connectivity, powertrain efficiency, and how these factors compare against competitors.
The Kia EV9 stands out with its two per cent Benefit-in-Kind rate for company cars. This makes it an attractive option for businesses looking for cost-effective yet high-performing vehicles.
Kia’s bold approach to electrification ensures that their vehicles remain appealing to company car users. The brand’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup demonstrates their dedication to innovation and sustainability.
The real-life range of the EV9 can vary based on driving style and other factors like speed, outside temperature, topography, and use of electricity-consuming devices. To achieve maximum charging speed, it must be charged at an 800V charger delivering at least 210kW of electricity.
Overall, Kia continues to solidify its position in the automotive industry with innovative models like the EV9. Their focus on combining practicality with advanced technology ensures they meet diverse customer needs effectively.
