Kia EV9 Clinches Top Honors In Outdoor Utility And Family SUV Categories At Mudfest 2024
The Kia EV9 has emerged as a standout at the 2024 Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) Mudfest, clinching awards in two prestigious categories. This all-electric vehicle impressed the judges to win the "Outdoor Utility Vehicle" and "Three-Row Family SUV" accolades, showcasing its versatility and appeal to a broad audience.
The event, which marked the 30th Mudfest competition, was held at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington, drawing automotive journalists from across the Pacific Northwest for a rigorous two-day evaluation of 20 competing SUVs, crossovers, and pickups.
Participants tested vehicles on on-pavement courses focusing on acceleration and handling during the first day. The following day challenged their off-road capabilities, setting the stage for a comprehensive assessment of each entry's performance across diverse conditions.
Steven Center, COO & EVP of Kia America, expressed pride in the EV9's achievements, attributing them to Kia's commitment to excellence and innovation in vehicle production. "The EV9 is an exhilarating and capable electric vehicle, pushing boundaries with its remarkable performance and drivability," he stated.
NWAPA members lauded the Kia EV9 for its superior handling both on the road and across challenging terrains. The vehicle's advanced driver assistance systems and its quiet, comfortable cabin were also highlighted as key factors contributing to its success at Mudfest.
Nik Miles, president of NWAPA, praised the EV9 for setting a high standard in the electric utility vehicle sector. "Its consistent recognition through multiple awards highlights its excellence in execution as the first mainstream three-row EV SUV," Miles remarked.
