Kia EV9 & New-Gen Carnival Launched In India: Price, Specs, Features & More
Today, Kia Motors has made huge strides in the Indian automotive market with the launch of the new Kia EV9 and the new-generation Kia Carnival. The Kia EV9 is priced at Rs 1,29,90,000 (ex-showroom), whereas the new Kia Carnival prices start at Rs 63,90,000 (ex-showroom).

The Kia EV9 features are designed to cater to both luxury and practicality, the Kia EV9 is expected to make a significant impact in the competitive electric vehicle space in India.

The EV9's exterior is a blend of modern design elements and robust functionality. It showcases a bold, boxy shape that demonstrates both confidence and resilience on the road. Highlighted by its sleek LED headlamps and the unique 'Digital Tiger Face' grille, the vehicle stands out with its 'Star Map' LED accents.
The SUV's substantial ground clearance of 200 mm and wheel options ranging from 20 to 22 inches ensure it's ready for various driving conditions, perfectly merging off-road capabilities with a modern aesthetic.
Inside the EV9, occupants are treated to a realm of luxury and comfort. It comfortably seats up to seven passengers across three rows, making it an ideal choice for families and groups. The interior is adorned with a sophisticated 12.3-inch dual-screen setup that incorporates both the infotainment system and vital driver information.
Enhancing the luxurious feel are amenities such as a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and an innovative 5-inch display dedicated to automatic climate control.

When it comes to performance, the Kia EV9 does not disappoint. The dual-electric all-wheel drive (AWD) version boasts an impressive 379bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The result of the all this power and torque is the model's ability to reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 5.3 seconds.
Also, thanks to its large 99.8kWh battery pack, the model can cover 490km in a single charge. Despite its larger battery, the Kia EV9 is touted to achieve an 80% charge within a mere 20 to 30 minutes thanks to its fast-charging capability.
Safety is also paramount with the EV9 coming equipped with equipped advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that includes 27 autonomous features like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.
Additionally, the vehicle is designed to receive over-the-air updates, ensuring it stays current with the latest technological advances. The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature further enhances its appeal by allowing users to power external devices directly from the SUV.
Kia Carnival
The new generation Carnival has been launched alongside the Kia EV9 electric SUV. The company initiated bookings for the much-anticipated Carnival on September 16, 2024, with a booking amount of ₹2 lakh.
The new 2024 Kia Carnival comes with a complete design overhaul, adopting a robust SUV-inspired look. This revamped model features a muscular grille and vertical LED headlights that frame the front, complemented by L-shaped daytime running lights for an imposing road presence.

The addition of 18-inch alloy wheels and side body cladding enhances its rugged appeal, deviating from its previous van-like appearance. The rear of the Carnival showcases Kia's modern design ethos with connected LED tail lamps, integrating seamlessly with the brand's latest design language.
For the Indian market, the 2024 Kia Carnival is equipped with a powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine, capable of delivering around 192hp and 441Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission for smooth performance.
Inside, the cabin features an array of modern amenities including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver's display of the same size, a Bose sound system, and an 11-inch heads-up display. Additional luxuries include powered and ventilated seats, wireless charging, three-zone climate control, and electric sliding doors.

Safety is paramount in the 2024 Kia Carnival, equipped with eight airbags, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system, and front and rear parking sensors. The inclusion of a 360-degree camera system and a level-2 ADAS suite, featuring forward collision avoidance, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control, underscores Kia's dedication to passenger safety.

At Rs 63.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Carnival is a tall reach for customers aiming for even the top-spec variants of the Innova Hycross and Invicto. In fact, the new Carnival is right in the firing range of traditional premium brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo.
Coming to the Kia EV9, the electric SUV is poised to be a strong contender against luxury electric SUVs like the BMW iX and the Mercedes Benz EQE SUV. With an expected price tag of around ₹90 lakh, the EV9 aims to set a new standard for electric SUVs in India, combining luxury, performance, and cutting-edge technology in one package.
