Kia EV9 Crowned As 2024 Electric Vehicle Of Texas By Auto Writers
The Kia EV9, an all-electric three-row SUV, has been named the "Electric Vehicle of Texas" at the 2024 Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Auto Roundup. This accolade adds to its growing list of recognitions, including "Best in Class" in the Performance SUV, Mid-size CUV, and Electric Vehicle categories.
The annual TAWA Auto Roundup took place in Irvine, California, on May 20, 2024. The event saw over 20 automotive journalists from across the United States gather for a two-day evaluation of top trucks, SUVs, and CUVs. The Kia EV9 was evaluated on various criteria by these journalists.

Steven Center, CEO & EVP of Kia America, commented on the award: "The Kia EV9’s trophy case continues to grow and being named the 'Electric Vehicle of Texas' from the 2024 TAWA Auto Roundup is further evidence that the first mainstream three-row EV SUV has wide appeal." He added that Texans have a particular affinity for SUVs, making this recognition especially meaningful.
TAWA members drove each vehicle on predetermined street courses to simulate everyday driving conditions. After these test drives, they voted on the top vehicles in various categories. The Kia EV9's performance in these tests contributed to its multiple awards at the event.
