Kia EV9 Crowned World Car Of The Year At 2024 Awards, Showcasing EV Dominance
At the 2024 World Car Awards, electric vehicles (EVs) showcased their dominance, with Kia's EV9 leading the forefront. This prestigious event took place at the New York Auto Show, drawing attention from across the globe.
Over 100 motoring journalists from 29 countries participated, evaluating 38 diverse automobiles across several categories. The Kia EV9, an electric SUV, stood out by winning two esteemed titles, highlighting its design and performance excellence.

Kia EV9 Wins Big
The Kia EV9 made a significant impact, clinching the World Car Of The Year (WCOTY) title. It outshone competitors like the BYD Seal and Volvo EX30. This win comes after its debut as a concept vehicle at the Auto Expo 2023 in India.
Furthermore, the EV9 also won the 2024 World Electric Vehicle Award, solidifying its position in the electric vehicle segment. It will soon make its way into the Indian market as a completely built unit (CBU), offering two battery pack options - 76.1 kWh and 99.8 kWh.

Hyundai and BMW Shine
Hyundai also made headlines with the Ioniq 5 N, securing the title of 2024 World Performance Car. This vehicle, with its 84 kWh battery pack, showcased exceptional performance, racing from 0-100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds. BMW, on the other hand, took home the 2024 World Luxury Car Award with its 5 Series and i5 models, marking the brand's ninth win at the World Car Awards in its 20-year history.
Volvo Triumphs in Urban Category
Volvo's EX30 electric crossover was named the 2024 World Urban Car, marking the brand's second win at the World Car Awards since its victory in 2018 with the Volvo XC60. This win emphasizes Volvo's commitment to excellence and innovation in the urban mobility sector.
