Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD India Launch Likely: All Details Here
The Kia EV9, set to debut in India on 3 October, will be the first electric three-row vehicle in the Indian market. This upcoming Kia model is also likely to be available in the top-spec 'GT-Line AWD' trim.
The GT-Line AWD variant is the priciest version of the EV9, featuring nearly every advanced feature Kia offers for this model. Externally, it boasts unique bumpers, 21-inch GT-Line wheels, and GT-Line badging at the rear.
GT-Line AWD Features
This variant will come with six-seat and seven-seat configurations, though only the six-seat layout is expected for India. It includes all-electric seats, a lounge function for the second row, multi-zone climate control, ventilated seats for the second row, a 360-degree camera, level-2 ADAS, auto parking, connected car technology, power boot opening, and a full LED light package. In its home market, interior options include black over white, navy blue with black, and brown with black.
Powertrain and Range
The EV9's AWD version features a 99.9kWh battery pack and dual motors generating 379bhp and 700Nm of torque. It claims a range of 445km and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 200kmph.
Despite its weight exceeding 2000kgs, these figures are quite impressive. Using a 350kWh charger, the battery can charge from 10-80 per cent in just 24 minutes. A home wallbox charger is expected to be included when launched in India.
The vehicle's price is anticipated to range between Rs. 90 lakh to Rs. 1.2 crore, making it the most expensive Kia model introduced in India so far. This high cost is partly due to it being a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and also because it's a top-spec fully-loaded model.
When launched, we expect the Kia EV9 electric SUV to be a very attractive proposition for luxury electric car buyers in India. Also, the launch of this model will propel Kia's brand value in the country by a good margin.
