Kia EV6 Facelift To Come With Larger Battery & Advanced Features: Set To Electrify India's EV Market

The updated Kia EV6, featuring a larger battery and cosmetic enhancements, is anticipated to arrive in India next year. Kia has patented the EV6 facelift design in India, suggesting its imminent launch. Initially introduced as a CBU in 2022, the EV6 was Kia's first all-electric model for the Indian market.

Globally unveiled in May, the revamped EV6 is expected to debut in India with refreshed aesthetics, new features, and upgraded mechanicals. The facelift includes a larger 84kWh battery, replacing the previous 77.4kWh unit. This new battery supports 350kW DC charging and can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

Kia EV6 Facelift Exterior and Interior Updates

The most noticeable changes are on the front of the updated EV6. The headlamps are now more angular and extend deeper into the bumper, featuring a revised LED daytime running lamp signature that spans the entire width of the face. The front bumper has also been redesigned with new air vents and a smoother appearance.

While there are minimal changes to the profile, the facelift introduces new alloy wheel designs available in either 19- or 20-inch sizes. At the rear, there are slight modifications to the LED signatures in the tail-lamps and a revised bumper.

Inside, the cabin boasts an updated curved panoramic screen for both the digital instrument cluster and infotainment display. A new two-spoke steering wheel now includes a fingerprint scanner, allowing registered drivers to start the car without a key. Additional updates include a digital rear-view mirror, an improved head-up display, and an AI-based navigation system.

Kia EV6 Facelift Powertrain and Specifications

The EV6 facelift offers two powertrain options: an RWD-spec with 229hp and 350Nm torque providing a range of 494km, and an AWD-spec with 325hp and 605Nm torque offering a range of 461km. These figures are based on Kia's tests conducted in South Korea.

This segment of premium electric crossovers is becoming increasingly competitive with models like Mini Countryman Electric, BMW iX1, and Mercedes EQA entering the market. Additionally, Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be another competitor for the updated EV6.

The updated EV6 is expected to continue being imported into India when it launches next year. This move aligns with Kia's strategy to strengthen its presence in India's growing electric vehicle market.

With these updates, Kia aims to enhance user experience while maintaining its position among premium electric crossovers. The inclusion of advanced features like AI-based navigation and fingerprint recognition highlights Kia's commitment to innovation.
