Kia EV3 To Electrify India's SUV Market: Next Big Electric SUV Contender
The Kia EV3 has been making waves in the automotive industry. Set to be positioned below the EV6, it will join the upcoming EV5 and EV4 in Kia's lineup. This is Kia's smallest global offering, and the company has released its first official TVC.
Kia EV3's Market Position & Target Audience
India is a potential market for the EV3, which aims to compete with other compact electric SUVs. This model matches with the company's requirement for a smaller and more affordable model for better market penetration.

Kia's first TVC for the EV3 highlights its broad target demographic, including first-time car buyers, Gen Z, Millennials, adventure enthusiasts, corporate professionals, and free-spirits. The 4.3m long electric crossover SUV features Kia's "Opposites Unite" design language, resembling the BMW XM with its elongated rear doors.
Kia EV3 Dimensions & Features
The EV3 stands out with its 1.85m width, enhanced by wrap-around LED DRL signatures. It is 1.56m tall with a 2.68m wheelbase and minimal overhangs. The front trunk (frunk) offers 25L of space, enough for the car's AC charging socket. The main trunk provides 460L of space, extendable to 1,250L with rear seats folded.

The interior borrows elements from the more premium EV6, including eco-friendly and re-purposed plastics, a fabric dashboard, and dual 12.3-inch wide screens. Other features include a new steering wheel with an off-set Kia logo, an extendable table at the front, and seat functions on respective doors.
Kia EV3 Powertrain, Battery, & Range
The EV3 offers two battery pack options: 58.3kWh and 81.4kWh. The 58.3kWh version provides a 410km range and supports 100kW DC charging. The 81.4kWh variant offers a 560km claimed range and supports 130kW DC charging.

Both versions come with a sole electric motor delivering 200bhp and 285Nm peak torque. The 0-100km/h sprint takes about 7 seconds, with a top speed likely around 170km/h.
DriveSpark Thinks
When launched in India, the Kia is expected to offer the 58.3kWh battery pack variant of the EV3 and it is likely to be priced around the Rs 30 lakh mark. This pricing will automatically make the Kia EV3 compete with premium compact electric SUVs like the upcoming Mahindra BE.05.
