Kia is gearing up to introduce the Clavis SUV in India. This upcoming SUV has been recently spotted testing in India and here are some of the interesting details about the model.
With the launch of the Clavis SUV, Kia aims to bridge the gap between the smaller Sonet and the Seltos. This upcoming SUV is said to hit the Indian roads next year. Internally, the Kia Clavis is known as the Kia AY and is expected to come with a variety of powertrain options.
That being said, despite its camouflage, the Clavis' photographs hint at a design inspired by the youthful and vibrant Kia Soul crossover, albeit with a distinctive look. The spy shots also reveal a substantial glasshouse and slab-sided doors that contribute to a unique upright appearance.
Furthermore, the Kia Clavis comes with vertically arranged headlamps and DRLs, which helps Clavis make a bold statement. At the rear, the design echoes the larger Kia EV9 SUV, with vertically placed taillights joined by a horizontal light bar.
As for the features, we expect Clavis to sport an array of amenities like cooled seats, a 360-degree camera system, a panoramic sunroof, parking sensors at both ends, six airbags, four-wheel disc brakes, and possibly advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in the upper variants.
The Kia Clavis is not just about good looks and comfort; it also promises a versatile driving experience with its multiple front-wheel-drive powertrain options. From internal combustion engines to electric and hybrid options, Kia is set to cover all bases.
The electric variant of the Clavis, sharing the same platform as its ICE counterparts, is expected to debut following the release of the conventional models. Kia's ambitious plans involve rolling out close to 100,000 units of the Clavis every year, with the lion's share coming from the ICE range.
